Most Linux distributions do not support nVidia Optimus out of the box. If your PC takes advantage of nVidia Optimus technology, it may be necessary to perform a few steps to prepare your operating system prior to starting a game.
Make sure that you have the official Linux drivers installed with your nVidia card.
Both Ubuntu and Mint have the option of automatic driver installation through System Settings, in order to install the official Linux drivers for your video device, select “nvidia-current”.
Once your official drivers are installed, it's necessary to install additional packages for Optimus support. These are bumblebee, bumblebee-nvidia, and primus.
You can use the following command to to install these packages:
sudo apt-get install bumblebee bumblebee-nvidia primus
We strongly recommend to restarting your PC once installation is completed.
Even with bumblebee installed, your games will still automatically launch with your integrated Intel chipset. To launch your games with the nVidia card, use the following command in the game folder:
