How do I install games with GOG GALAXY?
First, you’ll need the latest version of GALAXY installed on your machine. You can find instructions on how to do this here.
After you have installed GALAXY, please run it, and log in using your GOG.COM account credentials - the same that you use on our website. Lastly, go to the Library tab in GOG GALAXY. You can switch tabs using the bar at the top of the GALAXY window. Click on the game you wish to install, and you'll be taken to that game's page. Here you have a few different options, but click on INSTALL to proceed. You will be presented with a new window, where you can change:
- game language (only for supported games),
- installation directory,
- whether or not you want to create a shortcut,
- auto-update options,
as well as read the End User Agreement. To start the installation process click on CONTINUE. The game will be added to the side-bar on the left side of the GALAXY window. The installation progress bar will be displayed beneath the game title. Once it’s finished, you can click on PLAY to start the game.
How do I install/uninstall DLCs with GOG GALAXY?
Once you have the game installed on your machine, and added to GALAXY, click on it in the side-bar on the left. You will be taken to the game page. To uninstall DLC, simply uncheck that box.
How can I download standalone installers and bonus content with GOG GALAXY?
First you need to get to the game's library page. If you have the game installed, and imported in GOG GALAXY, select it from the list on the left side ofthe GALAXY window.
Otherwise, click on "LIBRARY" from the bar at the top of the GALAXY window. You will be taken to your game library, where you can select the game you're interested in.
On the game's page click on MORE -> Backup & goodies. What you see now is the "Backup & goodies" section. Here you can choose what you want to download, including game goodies and standalone installers. Once you click on what you want to download, GALAXY will start downloading it automatically.

"How do I import already installed games (older versions or installation files) into GOG GALAXY? "
There are two ways that you can use to add games which are already installed on your system to GALAXY.
- Using the SCAN AND IMPORT FOLDERS option allows you to add multiple games in one swoop.
To scan for games which you have already installed, click the GOG.COM icon in the upper left corner of the GOG GALAXY main window, and select SCAN AND IMPORT FOLDERS from the drop-down list. Select your base GOG Games folder (the one that stores multiple game installation folders), and see what appears on your games list.
This method might not work with games installed a long time ago. In these cases refer to the option below.
- Using the IMPORT FOLDER option allows you to add only one game per use. However, it will make GALAXY attempt to use the existing files no matter what, even if the game couldn't be found automatically.
To use this option, find the game in your library (to open the library click on LIBRARY on the top bar of GALAXY). Then click on MORE -> Manage installation -> Import folder... , and select the game installation folder.
How do I change where my games should be installed, and where I want to download files?
You can change this in the GALAXY Settings panel. To access it, click on the GOG.COM icon in the top left corner of the GALAXY window, and select Settings from the drop-down menu.
Switch to the Downloads tab. Here you can configure the:
- Games installation folder - the default directory for installing games.
- Other downloads folder - folder for other downloads like the backup installer or bonus content.
How do I revert (rollback) to an older game version?
Once you have the game installed on your machine, and added to GALAXY, click on it in the side-bar on the left. Select MORE -> Settings, and turn off the Auto-Updates option.
If the game has any older versions available to revert to, you can select them under VERSION section.
How do I sign up to beta branches?
Once you have the game installed on your machine, and added to GALAXY, select it from the side-bar on the left. Then click on MORE -> Settings, and look for the BETA CHANNELS setting in the top-right corner. To enable beta branches change this setting to ON.
Now, if the game supports beta branches, you can choose the one you want to use from the UPDATES: CHANNEL drop-down list.
If it is a private beta branch select ADD PRIVATE CHANNELS from the bottom of the list, input the password for beta branch, confirm by clicking SUBMIT, open the drop-down list again, and select the beta branch you want to use.
How do I change my game's language in GOG GALAXY?
In most cases, you will be able to select the game language before the download starts, in the window that appears right after clicking INSTALL.
If this is not possible, or if you have already installed the game, select it from the list on the left side of GALAXY, and click on MORE -> Settings. You can change the game language here, under GAME: SELECT LANGUAGE.
However, there are three unusual scenarios you may encounter (especially with older, or smaller games):
- Some games may have all language versions bundled by default. In this case you will have to select the right one in the game options.
- In some instances (usually for some older games), you will have to use a Language selector. To open it, select the game from the list on the left side of GALAXY, click on MORE -> Other, and look for a Language Setup, which is a separate application used to change the game's language.
- Some games may only have the English version available. You can check if this is the case by opening the game's store page. All available languages are listed on the right under the header ""Languages"", which you can find directly below the wishlist button.

How do I use cloud saves for my games?
GOG GALAXY offers cloud saves as an optional feature for some specific games. The cloud save feature can be enabled or disabled in the settings for GALAXY, which you can access by clicking on the GOG.COM logo in the top left corner of the client.
You can see the complete list of games which support cloud saves by searching our catalogue for the cloud saving feature. A game that supports cloud saves also has a ""cloud saves"" tag in the features list of its store page.
To upload your saves to the cloud, all you need to do is start the game via GALAXY; if it supports cloud saves and you have enabled the feature, your local saves will automatically be synchronized with the cloud. Your saves are also synchronized after you exit the game, as long as GALAXY is still running in the background.
If you want to download a backup copy of your cloud saves, please open the library entry of the game in question, click on ""More"" and choose ""Backups & Goodies"" in the drop-down menu. The cloud saves are available under ""Cloud Saves Backup Copy"". Please note that, section above is available only in GOG GALAXY, not website.
Will GOG GALAXY work on my tablet?
As a rule, GOG GALAXY is designed and maintained as a desktop application, and we do not tweak it to work on tablets, specifically.
That being said, it should work on Windows-based tablets.
There is a known glitch that - if you aren't using a dedicated keyboard - the on-screen touch keyboard may not always display when you click a text field (like the email/password fields). Switching to another app, and then back into GOG GALAXY, should help in most cases.
We cannot guarantee GOG GALAXY's functionality on other platforms, like Windows Phone.
GOG GALAXY minimal requirements
Please note that GOG GALAXY requires at least Windows 7 + Service Pack 1 or MAC OS X 10.11 or newer.
However, in-game Overlay requires Intel HD 4000 or higher to work without problem.
