To set up a multiplayer game, choose which of the players is the HOST and which is the CLIENT. The HOST will need to check their IP address and send it to the CLIENT in order to properly set up the game. Afterwards, follow the instructions below:
1. Start the multiplayer launcher by selecting the "Launch Multiplayer" shortcut in the game's installation folder.
By default, this will be: C:\GOG Games\Populous with Promised Lands
HOST: select the “Start Network HOST Game” option.
CLIENT: select the “Start Network CLIENT Game” option. Enter the HOST'S IP adress in the new Host IP window.
2. Set up the multiplayer game in Populous:
HOST:
- Hit the F3 key,
- enter your name in the dialog box and press Enter,
- click the Earth icon in the bottom-left portion of the screen,
- chose the Two Players option,
- click the Datalink option and set the connection type to modem,
- enter your name in the Send Login field and press Enter,
- chose I am good,
- click on Connect Me.
CLIENT:
- Hit F3 key,
- enter your name in the dialog box and press Enter,
- click the Earth icon in the bottom-left portion of the screen,
- chose the Two Players option,
- click the Datalink option and set the connection type to modem,
- enter your name in the Send Login field and press Enter,
- chose I am Evil,
- click on Connect Me.
Afterwards, you should be good to go!
Populous™ - Setting up a multiplayer game
