What are GOG Coins?
GOG Coins is a test community feature for GOG Patrons. Patrons can collect Coins through continuous active membership and exchange them for discount codes.
Why is GOG launching GOG Coins?
Our Patrons do more than support game preservation. They help us pursue ambitious ideas and make GOG a better place for all gamers. GOG Coins allow us to test a new community feature with a trusted group, learn from real use, and improve it based on feedback.
Does this change the purpose of GOG Patrons?
No. GOG Patrons remains, first and foremost, a way to support the preservation of video games.
Is GOG Coins a finished feature?
No. GOG Coins are being introduced as a community beta. The experience and its rules may be refined as we learn from participating members. Because of this, we may introduce changes during the course of the test.
How long will the beta last?
The beta is currently planned to run for six months. It may change depending on the results we collect.
Who can participate?
The feature is enabled automatically to GOG Patrons with active membership. Visit your GOG Profile (https://www.gog.com/u/@me) to see if you're collecting coins
How do I earn a GOG Coin?
You normally receive one Coin at the beginning of each new monthly GOG Patrons billing period, once the payment for that period has been successfully collected.
When GOG Coins launches on 21 September 2026, every active Patron will receive their first Coin, regardless of when their current billing period started. After that, further Coins will follow their normal GOG Patrons payment and renewal schedule.
Do existing Patrons receive a Coin when the beta launches?
Each active Patron gets a Coin at the start of the beta. Additionally, if you have supported us continuously since June 21st 2026, 23:59 UTC, or before, till the beginning of the beta, you will receive a one-time discount code (launch bonus) upfront at launch.
Do previous months of membership count toward additional Coins?
Previous membership determines whether you receive the launch bonus. It does not grant one Coin for every month completed before the beta.
Do I need to keep my membership active continuously?
Yes. GOG Coins reward continuous Patrons membership. A Coin is added after each successful monthly payment collection.
What happens to my Coins if I cancel my membership?
When you cancel and your subscription expires - you will lose all coins and streak. Any code that you already have stays available to claim and use until the code expires.
Where can I see my GOG Coins?
You can check your Coin balance and progress on your GOG profile.
How do I receive a discount code?
Collect two GOG Coins to unlock a 5% discount, and three GOG Coins to unlock a 10% discount code. You can claim the codes from your GOG profile.
What happens to my Coins when I claim a code?
Nothing. Claiming a code doesn't spend your Coins - your counter keeps going. Your 2nd Coin unlocks a 5% code and your 3rd unlocks a 10% code. After your 3rd Coin, the counter starts a new cycle from 1 at your next billing period.
What does the discount apply to?
The 5% and 10% discount apply to an entire GOG order, rather than a single game. Multiple coin discounts can’t be applied to the same order.
Are any games or products excluded?
The discount is intended to apply across the entire GOG catalog, including full games, DLCs, pre-orders, and discounted titles. You can’t use code to top up your GOG wallet or purchase Patrons subscription. Any of those rules may be a subject to change during beta or later.
Is there a minimum order value?
No minimum order value is planned for the GOG Coins discount. It may be a subject to change during beta or later.
Can I use more than one discount code on the same order?
Only one code can be associated with a single order.
Can I share my code with someone else?
Yes. The code must be claimed through your own GOG profile, but you may share the claimed code with a friend. Remember that only one person can use the code.
How many codes can I receive?
Since the beta is planned to run for six months, participating Patrons may have the opportunity to unlock up to 4 discount codes + bonus launch code if applicable. The number you can unlock depends on when you join and maintain your membership.
Where can I claim my code?
Once you have collected two and three Coins, you can claim your discount codes from your GOG profile.
Does my code expire?
The codes are valid for 90 days from the moment they become available to be claimed.
Can I save my Coins instead of claiming the code immediately?
The option to claim codes appears automatically on the 2nd and 3rd coin. Your profile will show that your discount code is ready to be claimed and used for 90 days. You need to claim and use the code within those 90 days. After you reach 3 coins, the streak will reset on the next month of the continuous subscription and you will start collecting the coins again from the 1st coin.
Where can I share feedback about GOG Coins?
You can share your feedback on our GOG Patrons Discord server, in a dedicated channel. We’ll invite Patrons to complete a survey later during the beta.
What kind of feedback is GOG looking for?
We want to know whether the feature is understandable, whether progress and rewards are communicated clearly, how the claiming experience feels, and what you would improve.
What should I do if a Coin is missing or I cannot claim my code?
First, refresh your Patron profile and confirm that your latest monthly payment was completed successfully. If the issue continues, contact us here.
What happens when the beta ends?
We’ll review how the feature performed and consider feedback from participating Patrons before deciding on the next steps. Because this is a beta, we’re not yet making commitments about the feature’s future form or availability.
